Latest Coronavirus News and Head's updates

Thursday 16th July.

Good morning - I hope you are all well.

It feels very strange to be coming to the end of the school year without all the children in to say goodbye to. We are also all missing our usual end of year events.

We have all our plans and risk assessments in place for our September opening and I have put the letter below with the details. Any further updates or emergency closure information will be posted on the website during the summer holiday.

Monday 29th June

Good morning everybody.

It has been lovely this morning to welcome some more Reception, Year 1 and Year 6 children back into the school. Including key worker children we have 62 children in today.

The RNLI have asked me to share some water safety resources with you; you can find them if you follow the link below.

Water Safety

Your teachers are still updating the website with work for all of you at home. This is also some of the work the children in school are doing if your class has returned but you are still working at home. Most important of all though is to keep reading and practicing your times tables.

Take care

Friday 19th June

Good morning everybody - I hope you are all staying well and 'Staying alert!'. It has been another busy week in school for us, as we welcomed a few more children back into EYFS, Year 1 and Year 6. Everybody in school is still staying healthy - long may it last!

I hope all you children that are not in school are still keeping up with the website work. I know many of you have had a telephone conversation with your teacher - they have really enjoyed talking to you.

Here is a copy of the letter that was emailed to everybody this week

Letter 18th June

Have a good weekend and enjoy what promises to be a hot, sunny week next week.

Take care

Monday 8th June

I hope everybody had a lovely weekend. We have completed the first week of our partial reopening for EYFS, Year 1 and Year 6 alongside our key worker children: I am pleased to report that it went as well as planned. Thanks to those of you that have emailed in about how successful you feel the restart has been, it has helped to keep staff morale high. It is very strange in school with all the children isolated in their pods and nobody allowed into other classrooms, including myself. It has been fun though to watch the children on the playground inventing various social distancing games.

As many of you know, every summer a lot of children take part in a summer reading challenge. Although, due to the virus, there are differences this year, the challenge is still running. These are the details for anybody interested:

The Reading Agency, who produce the scheme each year, have designed an all-new updated Summer Reading Challenge website https://summerreadingchallenge.org.uk/

which they launched on Friday 5th June to keep children reading over the summer and support parents and carers with children already at home.  This will be the only way for children to take part in the Challenge this year, due to the disruption caused by Covid-19.  Because children will be taking part at a national rather than local level they will not be sending finishers’ certificates to schools in the autumn term for presentation.

Take care and kind regards

Monday 1st June

Good morning to you all.

This morning we welcomed some of the children back into school. We started today with 12 reception children divided into 2 pods - the children all came into school happily this morning and it was so lovely to see them. Tomorrow our Year 1 pod will open and on Wednesday the two Year 6 pods will open. our Key Worker children pod is also running alongside this. To run this setup we are using all of our classrooms and all the staff, so it is a busy time and has taken a lot of planning. Obviously, we observed social distancing during planning meetings, as you can see in the photo below:

As the weeks go on, we look forward to seeing more of you.

Hoping you are all well - take care.
