School Structure

As a small village school set in a rural location, our school is made up of six classes, including two mixed-age class groups, with the following structure:

We have small class sizes of 20 pupils as our Published Admissions Number for all cohorts starting in our Reception Class, creating a wonderfully nurturing smaller class group size for children’s time in the Early Years.

As the children progress through the school, they will remain in their original class group for Years R, 1, 2 and come back together for Year 6.

During Years 3, 4 and 5, our children have the beneficial experience of being mixed due to our school structure of six classes, allowing for the children to have the first experiences of small changes to their class group as they enter Key Stage Two, fantastic preparation for the significant changes they will encounter at secondary school and beyond.

Our mixed age classes are taught using a three-year cycle to ensure the curriculum is taught as a sequential spiral of learning, enabling children to build their knowledge over time and ensure ample progression and challenge for all.
